Twilight in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico

Thanks to the generous gem that she is, Julie Gallaher, I've been at the 70 year old legendary spa Rancho La Puerta in Tecata, Baja, California, Mexico with 17 powerhouse women for the last three days.  We've come together from different parts of the country to share our professional expertise, life passions, and enthusiasm for social media.

In addition to soaking up the knowledge and compassion of this talented and diverse group of women, I'm learning to relax again.  I don't think I've felt this at peace and connected to nature since I was in my homeland of another life, Kauai, Hawaii.   While I hike for an hour a half everyday back in Los Angeles, the smog and urban jungle stifle my lungs and creativity at times.

Here at Rancho La Puerto, not only am I sleeping for more than four hours every night, and embracing multiple free spa services (energy balancing massage, seaweed wrap, aroma therapy manicure and pedicure), I'm learning how to cook!  For all my friends out there unfamiliar with my adversity toward doing anything domestic, seeing me in the kitchen may not seem like a big deal.  But for those of you who heard my last boyfriend call me the "ultimate bachelor" when he looked in my refrigerator, you know cooking is a huge step for me.

Around twilight today, we took a field trip to the ranch's garden where we pulled all the vegetables for our meal (Grilled salmon with Papaya Kiwi Salsa, Indian Dahl with Ginger Peanut sauce, Basmati Rice Medley with Wild Rice Black Lentils and Shitake Mushrooms, and Cucumber salad Nippon style.)  Our gracious Executive Chef Michel Stroot gave us a hands-on cooking lesson at the charming La Cocina Que Canta, and I didn't burn down the kitchen!:)

I'll be chasing waterfalls and taking 6AM mountain hikes the rest of this week.  Pics to come!  In the meantime, say hello to the scenery and awwww to my new furry little friends.
